OUR MISSION

Cweed LLC strives to maintain the highest standard of scientific accountability and expertise in the cannabis and hemp industries. Founded in 2017 by Wayne J M Karim (Chief Science Officer), the company offers a variety of consulting services for clients seeking insight on cultivation, harvesting, extraction, processing, refinement, product development, equipment purchasing, facility buildout, analytical testing, miscellaneous troubleshooting, and more.

We advocate for safe, potent, pharmaceutical-grade medicine containing a representative spectrum of compounds native to the plant. Scientific research asserts the efficacy of cannabis is rooted in the collective action of all its medicinal components working in concert, a phenomenon referred to as the ‘ensemble’ or ‘entourage effect’. Our methods in cultivation, extraction, processing, and formulation ensure that every aspect of the medicine is preserved without sacrificing yield or time, thus creating a superior product for patients and vendors alike.

Cweed LLC is also engaged in scientific research exploring the potential of genetically engineered photosynthetic microbes to biosynthesize exogenous cannabis terpenes. Our expert scientists are currently designing novel transgenetic protein cassettes optimized to produce individual terpenes or full-strain terpene profiles, and are developing custom photobioreactors that allow for perpetual terpene collection without costly extraction of microbial colonies.

Wayne J M Karim

Wayne J M Karim is a medicinal chemist and cannabis specialist with training in total chemical synthesis, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical compounding, molecular biology, and microbiology. Wayne completed his studies for Bachelor’s of Science in Biology at the University of California Riverside, and his studies for Master’s of Science in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of San Francisco. Following employment as Director of Extraction for the world’s first medical cannabis company, Tikun Olam, Wayne founded Cweed LLC where he currently serves as Chief Scientific and Chief Operating Officers. Cweed LLC currently provides professional consulting services to the global cannabis and hemp industries, while also exploring the potential of transgenetic photosynthetic microbes to engage in exogenous cannabis terpene biosynthesis through research efforts under the direction of their CSO.
